Just finished reading 'A Second Chance' and wow, it hit me right in the feels. Judge Block doesn't just talk law - he tells human stories that'll make you rethink everything about justice.
The way he breaks down six real cases is mind-blowing. Like that Stephen May situation? 75 years?! The system failed him hard with all those legal loopholes. Made me so angry I almost threw my latte.
What's crazy is how Block shows both sides - the strict rules judges have to follow AND how they can still show mercy. Dude's got serious wisdom and heart, which our courts desperately need more of.
PSA: That part about how ex-cons can't even get housing or jobs after serving time? Criminal (pun intended). This book should be required reading for every politician.
