Okay, so I just got this book and wow, it's actually pretty dope for someone like me who's trying to level up their comic art game. Christopher Hart really knows how to break things down without making it feel like a boring anatomy lecture.
The best part? It's NOT one of those 'draw this exact same face 50 times' books. It teaches you how to simplify muscles and poses while keeping that dynamic comic book energy. My Batman sketches have never looked more animated!
But heads up - if you're looking for ultra-realistic musculature, this ain't it. The style is very Justice League animated series (which I personally love). Some pages do feel a bit repetitive though - like once you've seen one superhero torso, you've kinda seen them all.
Weirdly enough, my favorite section was on drawing hands (normally my nightmare). The simplified approach actually made sense for once! Still struggling with feet though... maybe that's just me being lazy lol.
Would I recommend? Hell yeah, especially if you're into that Bruce Timm/DCAU style. Just don't expect it to teach you how to draw from scratch - this is more about refining and stylizing what you already know.
