Okay, so I've been putting these Miles Racing semi-metallic pads through their paces on my trail bike for about 2 months now. Here's the real deal:
The Good Stuff: These things BITE! Coming from organic pads, the difference in stopping power is night and day. Did a gnarly descent last weekend and never once felt like I was losing control.
Noise Level: Mostly quiet except when wet (but what pad isn't?). The squeal isn't obnoxious though - just enough to let pedestrians know you're coming.
Durability: Still going strong after about 300 miles of mixed riding. Way better wear than the stock pads that came with my SRAM Levels.
The Not-So-Good: They do take some proper bedding in. First ride out I thought I made a mistake until they properly seated. Also, not the cheapest option out there but you get what you pay for.
Final verdict? If you're looking for reliable stopping power without breaking the bank (or your neck), these are solid performers. Just don't expect magic in pouring rain - but then again, what brake pads really work well when soaked?
