Okay, so I finally caved and bought these Dr. Martens Combs Tech II boots after eyeing them for months. Here's the real tea ☕
First off - sizing is weird. I'm usually a US 9.5 but went down to a 9 based on reviews and THANK GOD I did. They fit like a glove now but would've been swimming in my usual size.
The hybrid leather/poly material is genius - way lighter than classic Docs but still tough as nails. Wore them through a snowstorm last week and my feet stayed completely dry (take that, $300 designer boots!)
That buckle strap? Chef's kiss 👌 Gives insane ankle support without feeling restrictive. Walked 15k steps in NYC last weekend and zero blisters.
Style points: 100/10. They somehow work with both my work slacks AND weekend ripped jeans. The yellow stitching pops just enough to be cool without screaming "LOOK AT MY BOOTS"
Only con? The laces are comically long - like, "could probably use them as jump ropes" long. Had to double knot them to avoid tripping.
Paid $120 on sale (retail $160) and would absolutely buy again at full price. These might just convert me into a boot person year-round.
