I recently got my hands on this magnetic tape roll, and it's been a mixed bag of surprises. Let me walk you through my experience.
The first thing I noticed was how easy it is to work with. Cutting it to size with regular scissors was a breeze - no special tools needed. I used it to create fridge magnets for my kid's alphabet learning, and they stick perfectly to our stainless steel refrigerator.
The adhesive backing is seriously strong (it's genuine 3M tape in my experience). I stuck some strips to wooden photo frames and they've held up for weeks without peeling. However, I did notice the width was slightly less than advertised - about 1/8" shorter than the 1/2" claimed.
Where this tape really shines is in light-duty applications. It's perfect for holding up notes, photos, or thin craft materials. But don't expect it to handle heavy tools - I learned this the hard way when trying to mount kitchen knives. The magnetism is decent but not industrial-strength.
One quirk: the tape does have memory from being rolled, so the ends tend to curl up unless you really press them down firmly. This gets more noticeable as you use up the roll.
For craft projects and organization solutions, this tape is a budget-friendly winner. Just temper your expectations for heavy-duty use and account for that slight width discrepancy when planning projects.
