Let me tell you about my EPOS H6Pro journey - it's been a rollercoaster of audio bliss with some DIY fixes. After 12 months of daily gaming sessions, here's the real tea.
The open-back design is GAME CHANGING. Unlike closed headphones where gunfire feels like it's rattling your skull, these create this beautiful, airy soundstage where footsteps in Valorant actually sound like they're coming from different directions. I can still hear my cat plotting to knock over my water bottle too - bonus!
Now the not-so-great: out of the box? These babies were whisper-quiet on PC. I nearly returned them until I discovered SteelSeries GG software (weird flex for a non-SteelSeries headset). Crank that volume boost to +12 and suddenly I'm hearing enemy reloads three maps away. Pro tip: make a custom EQ preset called "Footstep Focus" to tame the bass-heavy default tuning.
Comfort was another adventure. The stock ear pads felt like they were in a feud with my glasses. $30 later for Dekoni Audio replacement pads (the Jerzee mesh ones), and now I can marathon 8-hour sessions without wanting to scalp myself. The headband could use more padding at the crown though - my bald spot disagrees with EPOS' design choices.
Build quality? Chef's kiss. This thing survives being yeeted across my room after bad ranked matches. The magnetic mic detaches smoother than my ex ghosting me, though I wish there was a physical mute button instead of full mic removal.
At $70 used? Absolute steal. At full price? Maybe wait for a sale unless you're an audio snob who appreciates that Sennheiser-esque warmth in your explosions.
