As a huge fan of Persona 5 and an aspiring artist, this art book is a treasure trove of inspiration. The character illustrations and design sheets are incredibly detailed, making it perfect for studying the unique Persona style.
The environments section is my personal favorite. Seeing the step-by-step production process really gives you an appreciation for the world-building in the anime. The interview with director Masashi Ishihama adds some nice behind-the-scenes insights too.
While I wish there were more technical notes about the animation process (it's more of an artwork collection than a production bible), the quality of prints is excellent with no pixelation issues. Just be warned - like other reviewers mentioned, Amazon's packaging might leave your copy with some minor damage.
The book's smaller size compared to other artbooks was surprising at first, but it's actually packed with content. Over hundreds of pages, you get everything from character sketches to beautiful landscape designs that really capture Persona 5's distinctive aesthetic.
If you're looking for critical analysis or animator commentary, this isn't that kind of book. But as a visual reference or collector's item for Persona fans, it's absolutely worth having on your shelf. The hardcover makes it durable enough to survive being tossed in my art bag during commutes.
My only real complaint? Some darker-haired characters' details get lost in the still images - I found myself squinting at certain pages trying to make out individual hair strands that were so prominent in the anime's animation.
