Let me start by saying this game is an absolute riot! I played it with my nieces and nephews (ages 9-14), and within minutes we were all in stitches. The way it combines the structure of Apples to Apples with the edgy humor kids love (without crossing lines) is genius.
The cards are smaller than standard playing cards, which actually makes them easier for little hands to hold. We particularly loved the blank cards - my 10-year-old niece created one about "eating pizza in math class" that became an instant favorite.
Gameplay is super simple: one player reads a question card ("What did your teacher catch you doing during recess?"), while others choose their funniest response from their hand ("Making out with the classroom hamster"). The judge picks the winner each round.
PROS:- Creates genuine family bonding moments- Gets kids OFF their devices- Simple enough for 8+ to understand- Surprisingly funny for adults too- Blank cards encourage creativity
CONS:- Some school-specific references might not land with homeschooled kids- Card quality could be better for the price- Humor gets repetitive after multiple plays
Real talk - we did come across a couple cards that made me raise an eyebrow (looking at you, "Your cousin's R-rated movie collection"), but they were easy to remove. Most content is delightfully gross (farts! boogers!) without being truly inappropriate.
The magic happens when you see your too-cool-for-you preteen actually laughing WITH you instead of at their phone. Is it worth $25? For those priceless family moments? Absolutely. Just don't expect infinite replay value - this shines brightest as an occasional treat.
