Let me start by saying the DJI RS 4 Mini is hands-down one of the most impressive gimbals I've used. The auto axis locks are an absolute game-changer - no more fiddling with manual locks when you're trying to capture those perfect, fleeting moments. I can't tell you how many shots I would've missed without this feature.
The intelligent tracking works like magic, especially for solo creators. I recently filmed a hiking vlog where the gimbal kept me perfectly framed even as I moved through uneven terrain. The footage was so smooth my viewers thought I had a professional crew!
Balancing is ridiculously easy thanks to the Teflon-enhanced system. My Sony A7III with a 24-70mm lens balanced in under a minute on my first try. The quick vertical switch (10 seconds!) has been invaluable for creating Instagram Reels on the fly.
Now for the not-so-great parts: The app experience is frustratingly clunky. Basic adjustments require too many menu dives, and settings don't save between sessions. Also disappointing is the lack of included phone mount and case - pretty standard inclusions with cheaper competitors.
The biggest pain point? You can't use Bluetooth and wired connections simultaneously. This limitation became painfully obvious when trying to control both focus and zoom during a product shoot.
Despite these flaws, when it works (which is most of the time), this gimbal produces buttery-smooth footage that makes my content look professional-grade. Just be prepared to work around some quirks.
