Okay, so I got this book for my niece's 8th birthday and OH MY GOSH she won't put it down! The fact that Ramona is also 8 makes it like... magical connection level for kids.
What I love: The chapters are just the right length - not too short to be babyish, not too long to lose interest. And can we talk about how Beverly Cleary just GETS kids? Like when Ramona struggles with after-school babysitting duties... so relatable!
Bonus points: The family dynamics feel real but still cozy. Not all perfect, but you can feel the love. Also major props for showing a dad going back to school - nice to see different family situations represented.
Pro tip: If you're reading this with your kid at bedtime, be prepared for "just one more chapter!" pleas. The Kindle version is clutch for this - no losing our place!
Only warning: Might cause your child to start quoting Ramona's sassy comebacks. You've been warned!
