I was excited to try the Skechers Go Walk Activity Tracker, especially since it promised to track steps, distance, calories, and even monitor sleep—all at a fraction of the cost of a Fitbit. The band itself is comfortable and lightweight, making it easy to wear all day without irritation. The initial setup seemed straightforward: download the app, sync via Bluetooth, and start tracking.
However, my excitement quickly turned into frustration. The app was nowhere to be found in the App Store—apparently discontinued. Without it, the tracker is essentially a glorified wristband with no way to view or analyze any data. Even when I managed to find an old APK for Android (after some digging), syncing was inconsistent at best.
On the rare occasions it did work, the step tracking seemed accurate enough for casual use, but sleep monitoring was a letdown. It registered me as 'asleep' while I was reading in bed, and failed to capture wake-up times correctly. The LED indicator is also vague—flashing colors without clear meaning unless you memorize the manual.
The biggest dealbreaker? Customer support is non-existent. Emails went unanswered, and their 24-hour complaint window is laughably impractical (who tests every feature within a day of receiving a gift?). For $100 less than a Fitbit, you get what you pay for: a device that *could* work but often doesn’t due to poor software support.
If you’re on a tight budget and willing to gamble on functionality (or lack thereof), this might suffice as a basic step counter—but don’t expect reliability or sleep insights. Personally? I’d save up for something with better longevity.
