Okay, so I got this book for my nephew's history project and WOW! The 'Who Was' series never disappoints, but this one about Henry Ford is extra special.
First off - the illustrations are EVERYTHING. Almost every page has these cool line drawings that make the story come alive. My nephew kept pointing at them going 'Look! That's the Model T!'
The writing style? Perfect for middle graders but honestly even I learned new things. Did you know young Henry used to take apart watches for fun? The book makes these historical facts feel like fun little stories.
What really surprised me was how much detail they packed in - from Ford's childhood to how he revolutionized car manufacturing. And it's written in a way that doesn't feel like a boring textbook at all.
Bonus: Great for ESL learners too! The vocabulary is challenging but not overwhelming, with plenty of context clues. I might actually borrow this for my adult English class...
Seriously, if you have curious kids (or are just curious yourself), this whole series is gold. Five stars from me and my very happy nephew!
