Just slapped these BUCKLOS mechanical disc brakes on my old trail beater, and here’s the tea ☕
The Good: For the price? Shockingly decent. The aluminum levers feel sturdy (not cheap plasticky), and the dual-piston calipers actually stop my 26" wheels without drama. Installed 'em in my garage while binge-watching brake setup YouTube tutorials—no instructions included, but hey, we’re all DIY warriors here.
The Quirks: Front/rear calipers look identical in dim lighting (learned that the hard way). Also, my existing rotors were thicker than these 160mm ones, so now they sing like a choir until the pads wear in. Not ideal for aggressive downhill rides—I’d trust hydraulics more for that.
Verdict: Perfect for casual trails or upgrading that decade-old bike collecting dust. Would I bomb a mountain at 30mph with these? Nah. But for grocery runs and light trails? *chef’s kiss* Just keep those Allen keys handy for cable adjustments.
