Let me start by saying these steampunk fingerless gloves are a total vibe. The distressed leather has that perfect 'adventurer's journal' aesthetic, and the riveted gears/compass details? Chef's kiss. I've worn them to three cons already and gotten endless compliments.
PROS: The leather is surprisingly soft right out of the package - no weird break-in period. As someone with sensory issues, I appreciate that they don't have that plasticky feel some costume gloves do. The fingerless design is genius for phone use (RIP touchscreen gloves), and the wrist velcro gives a secure fit without cutting circulation.
REAL TALK: They run large. Like, 'my 5'2" friend swimming in them' large. The wrist area especially gaps unless you crank the velcro uncomfortably tight. And while most metal details stayed put, one gear did start rattling after my fourth wear - had to break out the superglue.
PERFECT FOR: Steampunk cosplays where you need dexterity (I could actually pick locks at a LARP event), motorcycle riders wanting armoured flair, or adding edge to a nightclub outfit. Wouldn't recommend for heavy outdoor use though - the leather darkened noticeably in light rain.
VERDICT: 4/5 stars. They nail the aesthetic at a reasonable price point, just manage expectations - these are fashion pieces first, armor second. Pro tip: Condition the leather monthly if you want them to last beyond convention season.
