Okay, so this is my third Nest Thermostat E. You'd think I'd have it all figured out by now, right? Nope. The first one was a dud—dead on arrival. Had to return it and Amazon thankfully sent a replacement. The second one? Works like a charm.
Installation was surprisingly easy (took me about 45 minutes), but here’s the kicker: the thing wouldn’t turn on at first. Turns out, it needed charging! Who knew thermostats came with dead batteries? A few hours on a USB-C charger later, and boom—it woke up like a sleepy teenager.
The app is slick though. Pre-heating my mountain cabin before arrival? Game-changer. No more walking into an icebox or wasting energy when we're not there.
But be warned: if you have an older system, you might need extra wiring or even a transformer (shoutout to the Viivria AC 24V Transformer for saving my setup).
Overall? When it works, it’s brilliant. When it doesn’t… well, let’s just say I keep Amazon’s return policy bookmarked.
