First off, the large type and clear audio recordings are a huge plus! It's refreshing to find a Chinese learning resource that focuses on practical, everyday language instead of overly academic jargon.
However, I hit a major snag - the included CD refused to play on multiple devices that worked perfectly fine with other CDs. Super frustrating for a product that markets its MP3 component as a key feature.
The book format was another letdown. I specifically ordered what was listed as a hardback version (wanting something durable), but received yet another flimsy paperback instead. Not cool when you're paying for what you think is an upgrade.
Quality control seems to be an issue too - my copy arrived with several pages printed upside down and out of order. For the price point, I expected better production standards.
That said, when the material actually works as intended, it's genuinely helpful for learning conversational Chinese. Just wish the execution matched the promise.
