Okay, so I finally caved and bought these TuffRider paddock boots after my ancient Ariats gave up on life. First impression? Not bad for the price!
The pros: They're crazy comfortable right out of the box (no break-in blisters, thank goodness). The foam lining is like walking on clouds compared to some stiff leather boots I've worn. And hello - they actually look decent! From a distance, you'd swear they're real leather.
Now the sizing drama... I'm usually between 9-9.5 wide, went with 9.5 based on reviews. They fit but just barely - definitely run narrow. If you're between sizes or want to wear thick socks, size up! Learned that the hard way when I tried wearing my winter riding socks - ouch.
Durability update after 3 months: Holding up surprisingly well considering I'm basically living in them at the barn. The zipper hasn't betrayed me yet (fingers crossed), and cleaning is stupid easy - just hose 'em off. Though fair warning, they're not completely waterproof if you stand in puddles like an idiot (ask me how I know).
Final verdict? For casual riding and barn chores, these are totally worth it. Would I show in them? Probably not. But for everyday use when you don't want to wreck your $$$ boots? Absolutely yes!
