Let me start by saying, these Emporia Smart Plugs are a total upgrade from any other smart plug I've used. The build quality alone is impressive—they feel sturdy and reliable, unlike some flimsy alternatives.
The energy monitoring feature is where these plugs truly shine. Being able to see real-time power consumption of my devices has been eye-opening. I caught my old freezer drawing way more power than it should, which probably saved me a hefty electricity bill down the line.
Setup was mostly smooth, though I did experience a minor hiccup where the app said connection failed when it actually worked—just needed a moment to sync. Once connected, the app interface is beautifully simple and intuitive.
I've been using these for everything from holiday lights (scheduled to turn off at midnight automatically) to my sump pump (get instant alerts if power fails). The ability to control devices remotely via Alexa or Google Home is incredibly convenient when I forget to turn something off before leaving home.
The only drawbacks worth mentioning: they don't support 5GHz WiFi (2.4GHz only) and have a 15A max load limit, so they won't work with some high-power kitchen appliances. Also wish they supported Apple HomeKit.
At this price point for a 4-pack, with this level of functionality and build quality, these are hands-down the best smart plugs I've used. They've completely changed how I monitor and control my home's energy usage.
