I recently got my hands on the MoesGo Smart WiFi Power Dimmer Plug, and after testing it out for a few weeks, here’s my honest take.
The Good: First off, the voice control via Alexa and Google Assistant is a game-changer. Saying 'Alexa, dim the lamp to 30%' actually works seamlessly. The no-hub setup is also a big plus—just plug it in, connect via the Tuya app (after some initial setup hiccups), and you’re good to go. I used it for my porch string lights, and it kept everything tidy without needing extra cords.
The Not-So-Good: The app setup was frustrating. The QR codes didn’t work, and finding the right app (Smart Life) took some digging. Also, dimming isn’t perfect—some LED bulbs flicker at lower settings (below 50%), and the brightness steps aren’t as smooth as I’d like. It also doesn’t remember your last dim setting, so you have to adjust it every time you turn the lights on.
Final Verdict: If you need a simple smart plug for on/off or basic dimming (with compatible bulbs), this works fine. But if you’re looking for flawless dimming performance or advanced features, you might want to explore other options.
