Just got my hands on the QOA Celest CD-20 DAC/amp and wanted to share some thoughts after a week of testing. This little gadget has been my constant companion during commutes and work sessions.
The Good: First off, the build quality is impressive for the price. The aluminum alloy body feels premium and durable. I love that it has both 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs - makes it super versatile for all my headphones and IEMs.
Sound Quality: It definitely improves audio from my phone and laptop, though don't expect miracles. Works best with pop/rock music where its mid-forward signature shines. My classical tracks didn't get as much benefit in terms of soundstage.
Portability: It's a bit bulkier than some competitors but still fits in my pocket easily. The included USB-C cable is sturdy - no flimsy nonsense here! Heat dissipation works well even during long listening sessions.
The Not-So-Good: I did notice occasional clicking noises with sensitive IEMs, which can be annoying. Also, while it drives my HD58X decently, more power-hungry cans might need something beefier.
Final Verdict: At around $100, it's a solid choice if you need better audio from your mobile devices but aren't ready to spend audiophile-level money. Just temper your expectations - this isn't going to magically transform cheap headphones into high-end gear!
