First impressions matter, and the Miayaya Heavy Duty Door Chain Lock definitely looks the part. The stainless steel construction gives it a premium feel right out of the package. I installed it on my apartment door in about 15 minutes - just needed a drill and screwdriver.
The thickness of the chain (3mm) is impressive - you can literally feel the weight when handling it. During testing, I tried yanking the door with considerable force while the chain was engaged, and it held up perfectly. The welded chain links didn't show any signs of stress.
Where this lock really shines is in daily use scenarios: When delivery people come to the door, I can safely open it just enough to receive packages without fully exposing my home. The security bracket effectively prevents anyone from reaching in to unhook the chain.
However, there are some drawbacks worth mentioning. The installation holes spacing (94mm) might not match all door frames perfectly. Also, while sturdy, the mechanism does require your door to have proper alignment - if your door doesn't close flush naturally, you might struggle with engagement.
Compared to flimsier chain locks I've used before, this one feels like it could actually deter forced entry attempts. For about $15-20, it's a worthwhile investment for renters or homeowners wanting that extra peace of mind without installing complex security systems.
