Let me start by saying these Poraxy STEM kits are a blast! I got them for my niece and nephew, and watching their faces light up as they built each model was priceless. The kit includes four different projects: a music box, robot, coin bank, and password lock case – perfect for keeping kids engaged for hours.
The wooden pieces are pre-cut and fit together nicely without glue (thank goodness!). My niece especially loved the music box – seeing the gears move as it played was magical. The robot was a hit too, though we did struggle a bit with the wiring instructions. A word of advice: keep some small tools handy as not all wires come perforated.
What really impressed me was how these kits make learning fun. The kids didn't even realize they were picking up engineering concepts while assembling. The password lock taught them about mechanisms, and the coin bank showed how simple machines work. It's STEM education disguised as playtime!
Now for some real talk – the instructions could be better. The print is tiny, and figuring out which screws to use where took some trial and error. We ended up using our own screwdriver because the included one wasn't magnetized (pro tip: use a magnetized one if you have it!). Also, while the builds are creative and fun, they're not super sturdy – our robot took a tumble and needed repairs.
Despite these minor issues, at about $5 per kit, this is fantastic value. We've already bought more sets because the kids keep asking to build again! Just be prepared to supervise younger builders – my 8-year-old nephew needed help with trickier steps. Overall? Two thumbs up from this auntie-turned-STEM-coach!
