Just got my RunCam helmet camera and I’ve been putting it through its paces during airsoft matches. Here’s the real deal:
The Good: This thing is crazy easy to mount – slapped it on my helmet with the magic tape and it stayed put through all the chaos. The 1080p video is surprisingly crisp for the price, and that 7-hour battery life isn’t lying (though I haven’t pushed it that far yet). The flexible neck lets me get perfect angles without looking like a bobblehead.
The Quirks: Yeah, the light balance struggles when moving between dark and bright areas (like indoor to outdoor). And that SD card formatting issue? Total headache until I figured out it needs FAT32 – why isn’t this in bold in the manual?!
Airsoft Test: Took a BB to the lens first game (RIP), but a screen protector fixed that. The vibration alerts are genius when you can’t hear anything through ear pro. Video quality beats GoPro for half the price, though don’t expect Hollywood quality.
For $100-ish? Absolute steal if you need a no-frills helmet cam. Just format your card right and maybe buy lens protectors!
