Let me start by saying these locks are a mixed bag. On one hand, they’re sturdy and do their job—keeping windows secure from both kids and intruders. On the other, installation can be a headache if you’re not handy with tools.
The zinc alloy material feels solid, and the white finish blends well with most window frames. I installed them on my sliding patio door, and after some trial and error (and a metal drill bit!), they held up firmly. The universal keys are a nice touch—no fumbling with multiple keys for each lock.
But here’s the catch: alignment is everything. One user mentioned the lock disengaging when shaking the window—I tested this, and sure enough, if not installed *perfectly*, it can fail. Also, the locking mechanism jammed on one unit during my test (cue frustration). Not ideal in an emergency.
For childproofing? Great. For theft prevention? Decent if installed correctly. Just don’t expect a flawless experience—bring patience and a drill.
