Okay, so I just finished 'The Housemaid' and WOW. This book had me glued to my Kindle at 3AM like 'just one more chapter' turned into 'oh crap, the sun's coming up'. Freida McFadden knows how to write a psychological thriller that actually thrills!
The main character Millie? Relatable queen. When she took that housekeeping job for the rich Winchesters, I was like 'girl noooo' but also totally understood why she did it. The way the author slowly peeled back layers of Nina's crazy and Andrew's... whatever his deal was? Chef's kiss.
Plot twist alert: That moment when everything flipped? My jaw actually dropped. Like I had to reread the paragraph because surely I misunderstood. Nope. McFadden really went there! The pacing was perfect - enough breadcrumbs to keep me guessing but not so obvious that I figured it out too early.
Only complaint? The epilogue kinda messed with my happy ending vibes. Without spoilers, let's just say I wanted better for Millie after everything she went through. But overall? 10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves a good mind-bending thriller with complex female characters.
PS - Already downloaded the sequel because apparently I enjoy emotional turmoil?
