Just installed the UNS Dual AIO Intake Guard on my shrimp tank, and here's the real tea ☕
First off - YES it works! My baby shrimplets aren't getting vacuumed into the filter anymore. That alone makes it worth it for nano tank owners. The slim design (about 3 inches) blends right into my UNS 30A without looking bulky.
BUT... why does this tiny piece of plastic cost as much as a fancy coffee? The price had me side-eyeing my bank account. Also noticed it doesn't stay perfectly still - shifts around if my curious snails decide to redecorate.
Pro tip: Doesn't play nice with filter lids. Had to ditch mine completely. Not a dealbreaker, but annoying when you're trying to reduce evaporation.
Final verdict? Essential safety gear for small critters, but UNS could've designed it better (and priced it lower). Still buying one for each of my tanks though - shrimp lives > aesthetics!
