After using the NSI ELC74 timer switch for several months to control my outdoor security lights, I can confidently say it's a powerful tool for automation, though not without its quirks.
The Good: The astronomic timer feature is absolutely brilliant. Once I input my latitude (with some help from tech support), it automatically adjusted my lights to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise - no more manual adjustments throughout the year. The 128 programmable events offer incredible flexibility, and the battery backup gives peace of mind during power outages.
The Frustrating: Oh boy, that manual! It might as well be written in hieroglyphics. Like other reviewers, I spent hours scratching my head before finally calling tech support (who were thankfully excellent). The interface isn't intuitive - changing from fixed time to astro settings was particularly confusing.
Real-World Performance: In daily use, it's been rock solid. My lights turn on/off within a minute of the actual sunset/sunrise times (after setting the longitude offset using a weather app). The SPDT contacts handle my LED fixtures without any issues. However, I did notice the clock drifts slightly over time - about a minute per year in my experience.
Wishlist: A WiFi version would be amazing for remote adjustments. Also, Tork really needs to create some YouTube tutorials - their phone support is great, but visual guides would solve most programming frustrations.
Final Verdict: If you need precise, robust automation and don't mind a steep learning curve (or making that tech support call), this is an excellent choice. Just be prepared to invest some time in setup.
