After six months of using the Punkt. MP02 as my daily driver, I can confidently say this phone delivers on its promise of digital minimalism - with a few frustrating quirks.
The physical design is where this phone shines. That matte light blue finish feels premium in hand, and the button layout makes one-handed operation effortless. Coming from smartphones, I was surprised how quickly muscle memory adapted to the T9 keyboard - though texting longer messages still requires patience.
Call quality is exceptional. Voices come through crystal clear whether using the speaker or Bluetooth headset (the quick-connect feature is genius). This became my go-to device for important work calls where smartphone distractions might cause me to miss crucial details.
Battery life averages 2-3 days with moderate use - decent but not amazing considering the limited functionality. The lack of MMS support is baffling in 2023; group chats become unusable and you'll never see those funny cat GIFs coworkers send.
The Signal app implementation feels half-baked at best. It's slow, breaks other Signal installations, and good luck finding contacts who use it. Stick to regular calls/SMS for reliable communication.
While expensive, the MP02 succeeds as a beautifully designed communication tool that forces presence in daily life. Just don't expect it to replace your smartphone entirely - keep that nearby for when you inevitably need to check Google Maps or snap a quick photo.
