I've been using the DEWALT 20V MAX Drill and Grinder Kit for a few weeks now, and I have mixed feelings. The tools themselves are fantastic—the drill's high-performance motor delivers serious power, and the LED light is a lifesaver when working in dim areas. The grinder's E-Clutch System is brilliant; it shuts off automatically if the wheel gets pinched, which saved me from a potential disaster.
But here's the catch: the batteries. They're only 1.7-amp hours, and they drain *fast*—especially with the grinder. A full charge lasts about 15 minutes under heavy use, which is frustrating when you're mid-project. I wish DeWalt had been clearer about the battery specs upfront because they look like higher-capacity ones at first glance.
The charger issue was another headache. Mine stopped working after three weeks, and dealing with warranty claims was a hassle. Thankfully, I had backup batteries from other DeWalt tools, but if this is your first set, be prepared for some limitations.
Overall? Great tools, mediocre battery life. If you already own DeWalt batteries or don’t mind investing in higher-capacity ones separately, this kit is worth it. But if you need long runtime out of the box, you might want to look elsewhere—or at least double-check the fine print.
