Okay, so I just finished Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks and wow... just wow. Let me break it down for you.
First off, the characters felt SO real. Tanner's struggle to find his place in the world after military service? Relatable. Jasper's quiet wisdom? Chef's kiss. And Kaitlyn balancing single motherhood with her medical career? Been there (minus the MD part).
The emotional rollercoaster was intense - one minute I'm ugly crying, next minute I'm grinning like an idiot. That scene where Jasper teaches Mitch to whittle? Absolute perfection.
Small complaint though - some chapters were LONG. Like 'should I make another coffee or power through?' long. The ebook said 55 minutes remaining in a chapter at one point... Nicholas, babe, we need breathers!
What surprised me most was the religious elements woven in naturally. Normally I'd eye-roll at Bible verses in fiction, but here they actually added depth to Jasper's character.
Final verdict? If you want a book that'll make you feel ALL the feels while restoring your faith in humanity (literally and figuratively), this is it. Just maybe don't read it in public unless you're cool with random tears at the bus stop.
