As an art teacher and mom of two budding Picassos, I was excited to test the Boczif Art Portfolio Tote Bag. The vibrant yellow submarine design immediately caught my eye - it's such a fun way to get kids excited about carrying their art supplies!
The 18" x 14" size is perfect for standard art pads and larger projects. I love how it opens up to a full 28 inches, giving plenty of space for my daughter's watercolor papers. The waterproof Oxford fabric has held up well against juice spills and rainy walks home from school.
However, the compartment design left me frustrated. While advertised as having three separate zippered pockets, it's really just one large space with multiple zipper entries. My son's markers constantly get jumbled together - not ideal when he's searching for that one specific red crayon during art class.
The handles are comfortable but awkwardly sized - too long for comfortable hand-carrying yet too short for proper shoulder use. I wish they'd included both short and long strap options like many competitor bags offer.
For basic storage of flat papers and pads, this works fine (especially at this price point). But if you need serious organization or protection for delicate artwork, you'll want to add your own cardboard inserts or consider a more structured portfolio case.
Final verdict? A cute starter bag for casual young artists, but serious art students might outgrow its limitations quickly.
