I've been using the THIRDREALITY ZigBee Smart Plugs for a few months now, and they've completely changed how I interact with my home appliances. The real-time energy monitoring feature is a game-changer - I can finally see exactly how much power my space heater guzzles (spoiler: it's terrifying).
Setup was surprisingly smooth with my Echo Show 10. Just plugged it in, told Alexa to discover devices, and boom - instant smart plug. Though fair warning: I did have one unit get stuck in Bluetooth pairing mode during initial setup that required some troubleshooting gymnastics.
What really impresses me is how these tiny plugs serve dual purposes. Not only do they control my appliances remotely, but they also strengthen my entire Zigbee network as repeaters. My basement smart sensors finally have stable connections thanks to these strategically placed plugs.
The safety features give me peace of mind too. Being able to set devices to stay off after power outages prevented potential disasters when my finicky heater would otherwise turn back on at full blast automatically.
After testing them with various loads, I'd recommend sticking to electronics under 1200W and avoiding motorized appliances. They handle my computer setup flawlessly, but I wouldn't trust them with anything that has significant startup surges.
The only minor gripe? One of my plugs makes a faint buzzing sound when on but unloaded - easily solved by turning it off when not in use. For the price and functionality though, these are easily the most versatile smart plugs in my home automation arsenal.
