Let me start by saying these bookends caught my eye immediately with their sculptural details. The golden finish does look elegant on a bookshelf, and the artistic design stands out among typical boring bookends.
However, the reality didn't quite match expectations. First odd thing I noticed - both figures are wearing what appear to be COVID masks. This wasn't mentioned in the product photos and gives them an unexpectedly modern (and slightly eerie) look amidst classic decor.
The bigger issue is functionality. While they claim to hold heavy books, mine couldn't even keep a row of paperbacks upright. The angle isn't a proper 90 degrees, causing books to slide forward. One of my bookends arrived with broken legs (yes, the sculpture literally had broken legs!), making it completely unusable.
They do look pretty as decorative pieces if you don't need actual book support. The resin material feels substantial and the golden finish has held up well over weeks of display. But as functional bookends? Sadly not worth it.
My advice? Only buy these if you want purely decorative shelf items and don't mind the mask detail. For actual book organization, keep looking.
