As someone who loved the first Sing movie, I was thrilled to get my hands on Sing 2 in 4K UHD. From the moment I popped it in, I was blown away by how crisp and vibrant the animation looked - it's like the characters jumped right out of my TV screen!
The musical numbers had me dancing around my living room (much to my dog's confusion). That scene where Buster Moon's crew performs 'Could Have Been Me' gave me actual chills - the surround sound made me feel like I was in the audience at the Redshore City theater.
What really surprised me was how much emotional depth this animated sequel has. Yes, it's got hilarious moments (the pig trio trying to be tough guys cracks me up every time), but there are some genuinely touching scenes about pursuing your dreams that hit differently as an adult.
The 4K quality makes all those tiny details pop - from each individual hair on Johnny the gorilla to the glittery costumes during the big finale. And can we talk about that wolf villain? He's so perfectly menacing that even my niece hides behind a pillow during his scenes!
After three family movie nights (yes, we watched it three times in one week), I can confirm this disc holds up beautifully to repeat viewings. The special features showing how they created Clay Calloway's character were especially fascinating for my aspiring animator nephew.
Fair warning though - you will find yourself humming these songs at random moments for weeks. My grocery store cashout lane rendition of 'I Say a Little Prayer' may have gotten some strange looks, but hey, that's the power of great musical storytelling!
