Okay so I picked up 'Second Chance' because my dad's a retired cop and I was curious about the daily grind. The stories definitely feel authentic - you can tell the author lived this life.
BUT OMG the typos! 'Fourty' instead of forty? 'Wallah' when they mean voila? It's like no one proofread this thing. Every few pages there's some new spelling disaster that yanks you out of the story.
The actual content isn't bad though. When the writing is clean, you get these really raw, honest glimpses into police work. That scene where he talks about his first fatal accident? Chilling stuff.
Just wish someone had bothered to run spellcheck before publishing. And dude - we GET IT already about refueling the patrol car! After like the 15th gas station mention I started keeping count as a drinking game.
3 stars for potential, minus 2 for execution. Could've been great with an editor who actually speaks English.
