Just finished Tom Selleck's memoir and wow - it's like sitting down with the man himself over a cold beer. That voice! Even reading the printed words, I could hear that iconic baritone.
The Magnum P.I. stories alone are worth the price of admission. Who knew those famous mustache close-ups happened because the director kept yelling 'More mustache!'? Classic Selleck humor throughout.
What surprised me most was how openly he talks about career struggles - turning down Indiana Jones (!), nearly quitting acting, and that brutal period when CBS tried to replace him on Blue Bloods. The Hollywood stories have just enough gossip to be juicy but never mean-spirited.
My only complaint? I wanted more about his current ranch life. The man clearly loves his avocado farming as much as acting. More cowboy stories next time, Tom!
400 pages flew by. If you grew up watching Magnum or just appreciate old-school Hollywood class, this is your next read. Left me smiling - and maybe growing a mustache.
