Let me start by saying this: Verity is not your typical Colleen Hoover book. If you're expecting a heartwarming romance, think again. This book is dark, twisted, and utterly addictive.
From the moment I started reading, I was hooked. The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who's hired to complete the bestselling series of Verity Crawford. What begins as a simple writing assignment quickly spirals into something much more sinister.
The real shocker came when Lowen discovered Verity's unpublished autobiography. Reading those pages felt like peeling back layers of someone's darkest thoughts - it was uncomfortable, disturbing, and impossible to look away from. I found myself reading late into the night, needing to know what would happen next.
What impressed me most was how Hoover masterfully played with my perceptions throughout the story. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another twist would send my theories crashing down. That ending? Absolutely mind-blowing - it's been weeks and I'm still thinking about it.
Fair warning though: this book deals with some extremely dark themes including child loss and psychological manipulation. There were moments where I had to put it down just to process what I'd read.
If you're looking for a thriller that will keep you guessing until the very last page (and probably haunt your dreams), Verity delivers in spades. Just be prepared - once you start reading, you won't be able to stop.
