After using the TP-Link Tapo DL110 Smart Door Lock for several weeks, I can confidently say it’s one of the best smart locks I’ve ever tested. The six access methods—fingerprint, passcode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, smart assistant, and backup keys—make it incredibly versatile. The fingerprint scanner is lightning-fast (0.42 seconds!), and the rechargeable battery lasts a full year with minimal maintenance.
The installation was a breeze, and the adjustable latch fits standard deadbolts perfectly. I love the sleek black design, though I initially hesitated about the color. The app is feature-packed, allowing me to manage resident and guest access effortlessly. However, adding fingerprints or PINs to multiple locks individually is a minor hassle.
One standout feature is the hidden keyhole behind the doorbell button (which doubles as a cap). While clever, I wish TP-Link offered a dummy cap for those who don’t need the doorbell function. The keypad lights up only when touched, which looks cool but can be slightly inconvenient in low light.
The lock integrates seamlessly with Alexa, though voice unlocking requires a PIN for security—a small trade-off for peace of mind. Battery life has been stellar so far (still at 100% after three weeks), and the USB-C charging port is a lifesaver if the battery ever dies.
Cold weather slightly affects fingerprint recognition (a common issue), but it’s negligible compared to other locks I’ve tried. The rubber gaskets on both sides prevent door damage—a thoughtful touch most brands overlook.
Minor gripes include accidental doorbell presses (fixable with DIY tweaks) and no local API for advanced automations. But overall, this lock delivers reliability, security (BHMA Grade 2), and convenience in spades. Highly recommended!
