Let me start by saying the CUBOT MAX 5 is a phone that makes you do a double take when you see the specs vs. the price tag. That massive 6.95" 144Hz display? Check. MediaTek 8200 processor? Yep. 100MP camera? Oh yes. But does it deliver where it counts?
The first thing you'll notice is how premium this phone feels in hand - it's got some heft to it, but in a good way. That giant screen is absolutely stunning for gaming and media consumption. Playing COD Mobile at 144Hz is buttery smooth, though I did notice some warmth after extended sessions (that LiquidCool Tech helps, but doesn't eliminate it completely).
Camera performance surprised me - that 100MP shooter captures impressive detail in good light, though low-light performance is just okay. The macro camera is fun for close-up shots, and the front-facing cam handles video calls beautifully.
Now for the not-so-great: Battery life is inconsistent - with moderate use I got through a day fine, but gaming drains it fast. The advertised "24GB RAM" is misleading (it's really 12GB physical + virtual memory). And yes, charging takes longer than expected despite the 33W claim.
As a daily driver? If you're coming from flagship phones, you'll notice compromises in software polish and some quirks like occasional Bluetooth drops. But as a secondary device or for mobile gaming on a budget? It's hard to beat what you're getting here.
The bottom line: This isn't going to replace your iPhone or Galaxy S series, but for under $300? It punches way above its weight class with some understandable tradeoffs.
