Just got my hands on the latest edition of Mastering Bookkeeping, and wow—this book is a rollercoaster! Dr. Peter Marshall doesn’t hold back on pushing bookkeepers to level up as tech takes over the basics. If you’re serious about staying relevant, this might be your bible… but with some serious typos.
Pros? The exam prep is *chef’s kiss*—finally, mock papers that aren’t from the Stone Age. But flip to page 254 and… yikes. Missing answers, mismatched questions, and my confidence in shreds. Spent two hours questioning my life choices before realizing it wasn’t me—it was the book.
And don’t get me started on the petty cash example (pg 46). Numbers dancing like they’re at a rave. For a premium-priced ‘updated’ edition, you’d expect proofreaders to exist? Sigh.
Verdict: Goldmine of modern accounting theory, but pack a magnifying glass for the errors. Maybe wait for Edition 11… or a steep discount.
