First off, let me say that this A-Premium hood latch release cable does its primary job well. The installation was straightforward—just like the OEM part—and the 73-inch length was spot-on for my '89 S10. The steel core feels sturdy, and the plastic-coated exterior gives it a nice, durable finish that resists corrosion.
One thing I really appreciated was the included handle. It's ergonomic and makes popping the hood effortless, which is great when you're elbows-deep in engine work. The high-density steel wire construction means I'm not worried about it snapping mid-pull, unlike some cheaper alternatives I've tried.
However, there's one hiccup: the rubber boot that fits into the firewall doesn't seal as tightly as the original. It's a bit loose, which might let in some dust or moisture over time. Not a dealbreaker for me (I slapped on some extra sealant), but worth noting if you're picky about factory-level fitment.
Overall, for the price and given the one-year warranty, this is a reliable replacement—just keep some weatherproofing tape handy for that boot.
