Okay, so I just finished 'The Wedding People' and WOW. This book was NOT what I expected. At first glance, it seemed like another beach read, but honey, it hit me right in the feels.
The main character Phoebe? RELATABLE. Like that friend who says all the awkward things you think but never say out loud. The writing is sharp enough to cut glass - hilarious one minute, then suddenly you're blinking back tears the next.
What surprised me most was how this 'light' story about wedding chaos became this profound meditation on life? Like when you go for fries but end up having an existential crisis instead. The author sneaks these deep thoughts in between champagne toasts and dance floor disasters.
Fair warning: You'll want to read this in one sitting (I did at 2am). The characters feel so real you'll start imagining what they're doing after the book ends. And that ending! Bittersweet perfection that left me staring at my ceiling for a good 20 minutes.
If you want something that's equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking - with characters who'll feel like your messy best friends by the end - this is your next read. Just maybe keep tissues nearby (for both the laughs and cries).
