I've been using the OneChoi Belt Grinder Knife Jig for a few weeks now, and overall, it's a well-built tool that gets the job done. The T6 6061 aluminum alloy construction feels sturdy in hand, and the anodized finish gives it a premium look while preventing rust.
The adjustable angle feature is where this jig really shines. The stainless steel protractor plate with its -5° to 25° range allows for precise beveling, though I did need some time to get used to the adjustment mechanism. The fine thread turnbuckle makes micro-adjustments possible, which is crucial for knife making.
Clamping different knives is straightforward thanks to the multiple mounting holes and dual press plates. I've successfully used it with blades up to about 0.4" thick without any slipping issues. The aluminum handle provides a comfortable grip during extended grinding sessions.
There are a couple of minor drawbacks worth mentioning. Like another reviewer noted, the Teflon bottom plate doesn't always sit perfectly flush unless you apply pressure. Also, while setting up symmetrical bevels is possible, I agree that having two jigs would make this process much easier - something to consider if you're doing production work.
Despite being pricier than some alternatives, the build quality justifies the cost in my opinion. It's certainly more durable than cheaper options I've tried before. Just make sure to tighten all adjustment knobs properly as vibration can affect your settings during use.
All in all, this is a reliable tool that has improved my knife sharpening consistency once I got past the initial learning curve. It's not perfect, but it's definitely one of the better jigs available at this price point.
