Okay, so I got this book for my theater tech course, and wow – it's been a rollercoaster! When online classes hit, this thing literally saved my semester. The step-by-step layout worked perfectly for Zoom lectures AND when I had to teach myself at 2am (we’ve all been there). My whole class actually understood Vectorworks by finals week – miracle!
BUT… why does Chapter 7 feel like it was edited by a sleep-deprived intern? Wrong numbers everywhere! And don’t even get me started on the Kindle version – trying to read those pixelated diagrams gave me flashbacks to 2005 flip phone cameras.
The first half? Gold. Clear instructions, good pacing. Then suddenly after Chapter 5 it’s like the author got tired and started writing in text-speak: ‘just click stuff lol’. The downloadable practice files are messier than my dorm room – missing textures, random layers named ‘asdfghjk’... seriously?
Final verdict: Great for basics, but bring extra coffee (and aspirin) for the advanced sections. If they fix the typos in the next edition and hire a proofreader who actually uses Vectorworks? Solid 4 stars.
