Okay, so I just devoured 'Three Days in June' in one sitting (with breaks for snacks, obviously). Anne Tyler does it again – she made me laugh at dysfunctional families while secretly wanting to hug them all.
Gail is SO relatable – losing her job right before her daughter's wedding? Mood. Her ex Max showing up with a foster cat? Iconic chaos. The way Tyler writes makes you feel like you're eavesdropping on real people's messy lives.
The wedding drama had me gasping! No spoilers, but let's just say the groom's 'secret' made my jaw drop harder than when I found out my favorite coffee shop discontinued pumpkin spice.
Bonus points for: 1) Senior cat character stealing every scene 2) That moment when Gail realizes maybe being perfect isn't the point 3) Making me cry over a three-day timeline like some emotional amateur.
Only complaint? Too short! I needed at least five days in June. 4.8/5 stars (docking .2 because now I want to adopt all the cats).
