I recently got my hands on the JIM HALO Retro Square Aviator Sunglasses, and they’ve been a mixed bag of surprises. First off, the design is undeniably stylish—they give off that classic European vibe without breaking the bank. I wore them daily during a weekend trip, and they paired effortlessly with every outfit, from casual tees to semi-formal shirts.
The adjustable silicone nose pads are a game-changer. Unlike other sunglasses that dig into my nose or slide down, these stayed put even during long walks. The alloy metal frames feel sturdy, and the glass lenses have a premium heft to them, similar to high-end brands. Clarity is impressive, and the UV400 protection (though I’m skeptical about its effectiveness) did reduce glare during midday sun.
However, there are downsides. The hinges loosened up after a few weeks, making them prone to slipping off when I lean over. I also noticed tiny scratches after a minor drop—definitely not as scratch-resistant as advertised. The reflective inner lenses can be annoying; sunlight bouncing off them creates blind spots, which isn’t ideal for navigating busy streets.
For the price, they’re a solid choice if you want affordable style, but don’t expect perfection. If you’re rough on sunglasses or need robust UV protection, you might want to look elsewhere.
