Just rewatched the Criterion Blu-Ray of Rosemary's Baby and wow, this film holds up. Mia Farrow's performance is next-level - she IS Rosemary. That scene where she apologizes to her unborn baby? Gut-wrenching every time.
The subtle horror here is genius. No jump scares, just creeping dread. The Dakota building becomes this gorgeous gothic prison. Love how ordinary everything seems at first - even the creepy neighbors just seem like eccentric New Yorkers.
Special shoutout to that haunting lullaby theme. Found myself humming it days later (which is kinda disturbing when you think about it). The documentary about composer Krzysztof Komeda on disc 2 is fascinating.
Only complaint? Wish there was more new interview content beyond what was on the 2006 DVD. But the transfer quality is stunning - you can see every detail of Rosemary's terrifying pregnancy transformation.
This isn't just great horror - it's great cinema period. Polanski crafts paranoia like no other. That final shot still gives me chills after multiple viewings.
