Okay, so I finally caved and got these Kasa smart plugs after my 3rd "oops I left the coffee maker on" panic moment. Verdict? Game changer.
The setup was STUPID easy. Like, "plug it in → open app → tap-tap-tap → done" easy. My grandma could probably do it (if she stopped insisting smart homes are witchcraft). Connected to Alexa faster than I can say "Alexa, turn off my bad decisions".
What I love:
- Controls my dumb lamp like it graduated from MIT
- Schedule feature saves me from looking like a ghost when I forget hallway lights
- Small enough that it doesn’t hog the whole outlet (unlike my ex’s gaming console)
The only con? No Apple HomeKit support. But honestly, after wrestling with HomeKit devices before, this feels like freedom.
Bonus: The satisfying CLICK sound when turning things on/off is weirdly addictive. 10/10 would automate again.
