I recently got my hands on this reprint of 'The Manufacture of Mineral and Lake Pigments,' and I have some thoughts to share. First off, the content itself is fantastic—packed with detailed directions for creating artists' colors, enamel pigments, and even metallic finishes. If you're into DIY pigments or historical techniques, this is a goldmine.
Now, about the physical book: it’s a mixed bag. My copy had crisp, clean pages for the most part, unlike some horror stories I’ve read about smudged ink or missing text blocks. But I did notice a few pages where the printing was faint or slightly off-register. Not deal-breaking, but annoying if you’re trying to read every detail.
One thing that stood out? The vendor clearly put effort into restoring the original source images. Compared to other editions floating around, this one feels like a labor of love—just don’t expect perfection. If you can tolerate minor flaws for the sake of rare knowledge, go for it. Otherwise, maybe wait for a better reprint.
