Okay, so I've been using this Acer Chromebook 516 GE for about two months now, and here's the real tea ☕.
First off, that 16-inch WQXGA screen? *Chef's kiss* 🤌 The colors pop like crazy, and the 120Hz refresh makes everything buttery smooth. I didn't think I'd care about refresh rates until I scrolled through a PDF at 60Hz on my old laptop and suddenly understood suffering.
The Intel Core i5-1240P is an absolute beast for a Chromebook. I regularly have like 25 tabs open (don't judge me) plus Google Docs, and it doesn't even blink. My old Chromebook would've spontaneously combusted by now.
Google AI integration is low-key amazing. Gemini helps me sound smarter in emails than I actually am – huge win. Though sometimes it suggests phrases so corporate they make my soul hurt ('Let's circle back to synergize our deliverables' – no thanks, robot).
Battery life is... fine? Gets me through a workday if I'm not gaming heavily. Speaking of gaming, GeForce NOW works shockingly well – played Cyberpunk on this thing and it looked gorgeous (though my WiFi cried a little).
Downsides? The speakers are kinda meh (headphones recommended), and the chassis feels a bit plasticky for the price. Also had one weird audio dropout issue that fixed itself after restart.
Overall? If you want a ChromeOS powerhouse that won't bankrupt you, this might be your best bet right now. Just maybe buy the extended warranty because apparently Acer's customer service is... an experience 🫠
